About Us

RCMSAR

The Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue is an organization of some 36 individual volunteer Search and Rescue and boating safety groups committed to saving lives on the water. We serve coastal and lake communities in British Columbia, providing year round rescue service and promoting boating safety for children and families. In 2016 alone over 472 people were assisted and 115 lives were saved.

  • In an average year we assist more than 700 people.
  • We have over 1000 active crew and 100 non-crew volunteers.
  • We have 31 Rescue Stations and 3 SAR Prevention Stations.
  • We have more than 73 dedicated search and rescue vessels.
  • We serve some of the busiest waterways and most rugged coastline in the world.
  • We provide boating safety checks for hundreds of recreational boaters each year.
  • Our “Kids Don’t Float” program provides lifejackets for children at dozens of marinas around B.C.

RCMSAR 31 is the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Station in Brentwood Bay, BC. It is run by a group of dedicated volunteers and provides services to the whole boating community in and around the Saanich Inlet.
